Tiny Teacher

Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap

Julia joined the Phoenix Institute team at Teach For America in November 2011.  She was a recipient of the Fulbright Grant and spent 2010 – 2011 teaching English in Mexico City.  Julia worked hard to instill a passion for English language learning in
her middle school students and found it hard to tear herself away from them at the end of the year!  While in Mexico, she also volunteered at the Benjamin Franklin Library during her spare time teaching adult learners.  Julia is a graduate of Colgate University.  She lives in the greatest neighborhood of New York, Jackson Heights, where she was born and raised.  Some of her hobbies are couponing, knitting, and spending time with family.
Her responsibilities on staff include:  managing corps members’ leave requests, helping newly hired staff members coordinate travel, conference planning, budget tracking, and making sure our google site is up to date and user friendly.
